Client spotlight
The client is a large, multi-brand restaurant operator with over 2,000 locations nationwide. Operating primarily through franchise models, the client manages numerous quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands under several well-known banners. With such a large and dynamic operation, the client requires consistent rollout and day-to-day support from a trusted partner.
Background
The client has expanded its footprint significantly over the years, both geographically and through the acquisition of new restaurant banners. This growth created a diverse operating environment, with different banners often relying on different POS platforms, hardware, and support models. Nearly a decade ago, the client began working with Moneris Field Services (MFS) through a third-party client and billing partner. Through this model, MFS became responsible for delivering coordinated deployment, maintenance, and support services across the client's restaurant network.
Challenges and objectives

Fragmented systems
Supporting a diverse mix of POS systems, equipment, and support requirements made it increasingly difficult to deliver a consistent experience across locations. The franchise-based operating model added further complexity, with technology standards often varying from one banner to another.
Service teams needed to support multiple hardware types, maintain different parts inventories, and follow different troubleshooting processes. The client required a maintenance model that could accommodate this complexity while creating a more consistent service experience across banners.
Scaling support
As the restaurant network continued to grow, the client needed a support model that could scale efficiently across hundreds of locations nationwide. This required a partner with the resources, geographic coverage, and operational expertise to support ongoing growth while maintaining service quality.
Avoiding downtime
Restaurant operations depend on reliable technology and minimal interruptions. The client needed installations, upgrades, and ongoing support to be completed quickly and efficiently, without disrupting day-to-day operations or peak meal-service periods.
To address these challenges, the client sought a partner with the scale, expertise, and resources to deliver reliable rollout and day-to-day support while helping simplify operations across a complex franchise environment.
Approach

To meet the client’s needs, MFS took a gradual approach. Behind every rollout and service call was a coordinated support structure that included service management, logistics, project management, and field operations. This one-stop-shop model provided the client with a single point of contact to coordinate service requests, deployments, maintenance activities, and ongoing support across multiple banners.
In the early days of the partnership, providing excellent service meant supporting a wide range of POS hardware and equipment. MFS defined approved equipment lists and deployed the right experts from its team of more than 350 technicians to support locations across the country. This national coverage helped ensure a reliable support experience regardless of location.
As the relationship evolved, MFS recognized that long-term success would require more than supporting a fragmented environment. The team established standardized service delivery practices, including documentation, training, and technician validation procedures, to ensure consistent execution across locations.
MFS worked closely with the client to simplify and standardize its POS environment where possible. By reducing the number of systems that needed to be supported and introducing a multi-scenario service call process, the team was able to streamline support operations and improve service delivery across banners.
To minimize disruption, installations typically began between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. While the process could take up to two hours and occasionally extend until 11:00 a.m., scheduling work in the morning helped ensure locations were ready before the busy lunch rush.
Key outcomes

For nearly a decade, MFS has supported the client's ongoing needs through new-store deployments, banner-wide rollouts, maintenance programs, and break/fix services. The result is a scalable support model that can evolve alongside future growth and acquisitions.
By consolidating deployment, maintenance, logistics, and support under a single service model, the client reduced operational complexity and avoided the need to coordinate multiple service providers. Standardized processes and support procedures helped improve service consistency and accelerate issue resolution across its expanding network.
A partnership that's built to last
The client’s trust in MFS has only grown stronger over time. While the client’s needs have never been straightforward, MFS has continued to find solutions that are scalable, consistent, and minimally disruptive to a busy operation.
As the client continues to acquire new banners and locations, MFS will remain a trusted partner for deployments, upgrades, and ongoing support—helping maintain efficient operations across its growing network.
