SMALL BUSINESS GRANT PROGRAM: TERMS AND CONDITIONS

(THE “PROGRAM TERMS AND CONDITIONS”)

 

Call For Small (the “Program”) is a $5,000 CAD grant fund program coordinated by Moneris Solutions Inc. (“Moneris”) and administered by Moneris®. The Program is designed to provide financial support to existing Canadian entrepreneurs and small business owners.  There will be a total of (5) recipients who will receive up to a maximum of $1,000 CAD (a “Grant”).

1. NOMINATION PERIOD

The Program nomination period begins October 19, 2022 at 12:01 am EST and ends November 16, 2022 at 8:00 pm EST (the “Nomination Period”).

2. HOW TO SUBMIT AN NOMINATION

Please follow the details to submit a nomination for a small business during the Nomination Period.  You will be asked to provide information that includes, among other things:

  • Follow Moneris on Twitter, Instagram or TikTok
  • Submit a nomination by posting an image of the business with a caption that describes the following: 
  • Location
  • Why you love the business
  • Image could be a store-front, image of a business owner, inside the store, or of the products with verbal permission from a business owner.
  • Tag Moneris and the Small Business you’re nominating
  • Use #CallForSmall in the caption

The nomination must include all required information in order to be considered for the Grant. Incomplete nominations will not be processed.  Each nominator is only permitted to submit one (1) nomination under the Program. In addition to the information set out above, Moneris may at any time request, and you must provide, proof of you or your business’ identity and related qualifications under the Program.

3. ELIGIBILITY

3a. ELIGIBILITY FOR THE NOMINATOR

  • you are a resident of Canada (excluding the Province of Québec);
  • you are at least the legal of age of majority in your province or territory of residence;

By submitting a nomination to the Program, you grant Moneris express permission to send you private Direct Message (“DM”) related to the Grant on the social channel where the original nomination was submitted.

3b. ELIGIBILITY FOR THE NOMINEE

To be eligible to receive a Grant under the Program, the winners must satisfy all of the following criteria and comply with all other terms and conditions set out herein:

  • you are a Canadian resident;
  • you are at least the legal of age of majority in your province or territory of residence;
  • you are an existing owner of a business in Canada with a physical location, and such business has been in operation for at least one (1) year;
  • you must not be currently participating in a merchant program for franchisees, trade associations, member associations or other buying groups; and
  • you must not have processed an aggregate Visa® and Mastercard® transaction volume of $2,500,000 CAD or greater in the preceding three (3) months.

The Nominee will be contacted privately via DM by Moneris that he/she is a potential winner. Winner must provide us with all requested information to confirm eligibility in order to be awarded a prize. 

4. EVALUATION CRITERIA

Nominee that meet the eligibility criteria noted above will not automatically be selected for the Grant.  The evaluation process involves a selection committee composed of representatives for Moneris who will confidentially review all nominations based on the specific evaluation criteria noted below and in its sole discretion will select the recipient of the Grant (the “Winner”). Priority consideration will be given to Nominees who identify as a visible minority or Indigenous. All decisions of the selection committee are final.

The specific evaluation criteria include:

  • the quality and detail of the nomination submitted by each nominator;
  • the extent to which a nomination addresses at least one (1) of the following guiding principles
    • Community: how well the business benefits the local community, with consideration given to whether this community is currently underserved and how the business integrates itself within such community;
    • Impact: the type and extent of business impact, including job creation, economic stimulus, improving quality of life, or supporting a specific cause or social issue.

5. SELECTION OF WINNER AND AWARDING OF GRANT

The Winner will be notified by private DM no later than December 12, 2022.  The Grant will be provided to the Winner using the payment method agreed upon between the Winner and Moneris. The Grant will be provided as soon as reasonably possible following notification of success.

As a condition of accepting the Grant, the Winner acknowledges that Moneris may require them to sign a release and agree (without further notice or compensation) to the use of their name, business information, and other application information in any publicity or advertisement about the Program issued by Moneris in Moneris’ discretion

6. GENERAL PROVISIONS

By submitting a nomination, you expressly consent to Moneris and its agents and/or representatives storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with your nomination only for the purpose of adjudicating and administering the Program and in accordance with the Moneris Privacy Notice (available at: https://www.moneris.com/Legal/Privacy-Notice). If you have also consented to the use of your personal information by Moneris for marketing and promotional purposes, you agree that Moneris may send you offers, promotions and information about its products and services. You may withdraw this consent at any time.

By submitting a nomination, you agree that all information provided in connection with your nomination is true, accurate and complete, and you agree to be bound by these terms and by the decisions of Moneris and its selection committee in connection with the Program, which are final and binding in all respects. Moneris has the absolute discretion to determine eligibility of any Nominee under this Program and any payment due under this Program.

As a condition of nomination, Moneris reserves the right to conduct a background check on the potential Winner and the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any Nominee based on such background check if in its sole discretion it determines that awarding the Grant to such potential Winner might reflect negatively on the image or reputation of Moneris.

By submitting an nomination pursuant to the Program, you hereby waive and release Moneris and each of its respective affiliates, officers, directors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns from any and all liability, claims, losses or damages, whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive, and regardless of whether the claim or action is based in contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal or equitable grounds, that may arise in connection with the Program, your submission of an nomination, your participation in the Program, and/or the granting and use/misuse of all or any portion of the Grant.

Moneris may suspend, amend or cancel the Program, any of the Program terms or any nominee’s participation in the Program at any time.

Nominees who violate these terms or engage in any conduct that is detrimental to Moneris, its parent or affiliates, the Program or another nominee (determined by Moneris in its sole discretion) may be disqualified at any time.

Moneris will not be responsible for nominations that are lost, misdirected or delayed.  Moneris does not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of nomination information, technical malfunctions, human or other technical error.

In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the Program terms and conditions set out herein and any disclosures or other statements contained in any Program-related materials (including, but not limited to, the social channels, the Program website, the French version of these terms and conditions, and/or any other advertising in connection with the Program) the provisions of the English version of the Program terms and conditions as set out herein shall prevail, govern and control to the fullest extent permitted by law.

This Program shall be governed by and interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein and is void in all geographic locations where prohibited by law.
