Angela Brown is President and Chief Executive Officer of Moneris. She is responsible for continuing to build Moneris’ leadership position in North America, strengthening its position in mobile payments, and expanding its strategic partnerships.
Ms. Brown is an experienced executive with more than 25 years in the payments industry. Prior to Moneris, Ms. Brown was Group Executive, Enterprise Development, Merchants & Acceptance, for MasterCard Worldwide. Ms. Brown started her payments career at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), where she spent 13 years within the ATM, Cards and Payments divisions.
Currently, Ms. Brown serves on the Boards of Altus Group and ITAC (Information Technology Association of Canada), and was also recipient of the Electronic Transactions Association’s 2015 Distinguished Payments Professional award. Ms. Brown holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, and the ICD.D designation, having completed the Directors Education Program from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Chief Technology Officer
Amer is responsible for all technology aspects at Moneris. This includes product software development, business applications software development, technology infrastructure engineering and support, and information security and integration engineering. Amer joined Moneris in December 2000 and has led building the technology function from 20 people to over 300 staff. Amer has 20 years in experience in payments with 12 of them at an executive level leading technology and product functions.
Prior to Moneris, Amer held several senior leadership and management roles at RBC, BCE Emergis, TD Bank and Imperial Oil. He holds an undergraduate degree of Computer Science from University of Montreal and an MBA from Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto.
Amer is an active member of several industry forums including the Global EMV business advisors. Amer has also been an active member of the community where he has coached sports for community and competitive teams.
Chief Risk Officer
Brian Prentice is the Chief Risk Officer for Moneris. Brian is responsible for leading the teams that directly manage credit, fraud and collection risk for Moneris , as well as providing leadership to the Enterprise Risk Management function at the company. Brian joined Moneris in 2006 and has 15 years of senior management experience in financial services and risk management.
Prior to Moneris, Brian was Senior Risk Manager at Royal Bank of Canada. He was responsible for managing credit risk in a diversified portfolio of consumer facing Capital Markets clients.
Brian holds a B.A. from Western University, an M.B.A. from York University, is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and, also holds the Chartered Director (C. Dir) designation.
Brian currently sits on the North American Risk Council for Visa, Inc. and is on the executive advisory board of the Strategic Risk Counsel of the Conference Board of Canada.
Chief Operations Officer
Bruce’s responsibilities include; customer experience delivery; boarding and maintenance; chargebacks and Moneris Field Services. Bruce is accountable for delivering business transformation services, enterprise project management as well as running day-to-day operations leading a team of approximately 700 employees. Bruce has over 24 years of experience in the payment industry and has held several senior leadership roles in Sales, Operations and IT delivery leading large teams and delivering on strategic vision.
Prior to Moneris, Bruce has led international teams to provide technology delivery and integrations as Chief Technology Officer & Senior Vice President. He has previous Board experience and a proven track record of strategic leadership in driving new regional partnerships for success and sustained growth.
Bruce has been happily married for over 30 years, has two wonderful children and two dogs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in Political Science & Marketing from the University of Manitoba
Chief Human Resources Officer
Denise Hayes is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Moneris. Denise leads the HR function across the employee life cycle and is responsible for ensuring the HR strategy is aligned to the business strategy. Denise joined Moneris in June 2014 and has over 25 years’ experience in HR, of which 17 years have been at the executive level.
Prior to Moneris, Denise was SVP, People for Saint Elizabeth Health Care, a 6000 employee community health agency where she prepared the organization for future growth and expansion. Prior to Saint Elizabeth, Denise spent 15 years with ADP Canada as VP of Human Resources where she led the HR function through a period of significant growth, both organically and through acquisitions.
Denise is currently a Board member at The Living Arts Centre of Mississauga and a prior Board member of Mohawk Shared Services.
Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary
Faeron has responsibility for Moneris’ Legal, Internal Audit, Compliance, Privacy, AML and Public Affairs functions, and is accountable to the Board of Directors as Corporate Secretary. Faeron is the Chief Privacy Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. She leads a high performing team that provides counsel integral to Moneris’ operations.
Faeron holds the ICD.D designation having completed the Directors Education Program in 2017 and currently serves on the Board of SPRINT Senior Care.
Prior to joining Moneris, Ms. Trehearne worked with TD Bank Group leading the legal teams supporting Technology and mobile, online, and ATM channels. Previous to that, she was the Canadian legal counsel for the Oracle Corporation. Ms. Trehearne also practiced as an Associate in the Technology Group of Torys LLP, in the Business Law Practice of Goodmans LLP, and as a litigator at Stockwoods.
Faeron graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science. She received her law degrees from the University of Windsor Law School, and the University of Detroit Mercy Law School and articled as a law clerk to the late Mr. Justice Mark MacGuigan at the Federal Court of Appeal. She was called to the bar in New York in 1994 and Ontario in 1995.
Chief Strategic Partnership Officer
Malcolm Fowler is Chief Strategic Partnership Officer at Moneris. In this role, Malcolm leads a team responsible for the identification and commercialization of new product opportunities, the development and growth of partnerships with third parties, and, the enhancement of existing products, helping to ensure Moneris retains its leadership position in the marketplace. With a focus on evolving payments across key business segments and platforms, Malcolm's team drives the organization's partner relations strategies.
Malcolm previously held the role of Vice President of Financial Institutions and Partner Management at Moneris, where he was responsible for building and maintaining relationships with referring financial institutions, card networks, affiliate organizations and integrated technology partners.
Prior to joining the Moneris team, Malcolm founded Ernex, a company specializing in customer loyalty and store-valued gift card programs. Malcolm oversaw the growth of Ernex and was instrumental in the company’s acquisition by Moneris. Malcolm holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering Science with a minor in Communications from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Chief Product Officer
Patrick Diab, Chief Product Officer at Moneris, oversees the ongoing evolution of the organization’s product portfolio. Mr. Diab evaluates emerging technologies and how they can be leveraged to create more agile and robust business solutions.
With over 16 years of experience in the payments industry, Mr. Diab has implemented solutions for a multitude of industry segments. He has also held roles in technology, product and client integration.
Mr. Diab has a Bachelor of Science in both Software Engineering and Economics from the University of Toronto, as well as his certificate of Strategic eBusiness Management. Previously, he has also sat on McMaster’s Ecommerce Fraud Committee.
Chief Financial Officer
Winnie Leung is the Chief Financial Officer for Moneris. Winnie is responsible for the overall financial strategy, management and reporting and Treasury operations of the company and her responsibilities include making investment and borrowing decisions on behalf of the corporation, providing financial analysis in support of various business goals, and assessing the financial impact of acquisition targets. Winnie joined Moneris in 2011 and has 20 years of senior finance management experience.
Prior to Moneris, Winnie was an Audit Partner at KPMG LLP, servicing clients in the technology and communications sector. Winnie worked closely with both public and early-stage companies to help build and manage their businesses.
Winnie founded the Inclusive Workplace Council at Moneris, and remains the executive sponsor.
