As part of that commitment, we fully support the voluntary Code of Conduct for the Credit and Debit Card Industry in Canada (“Code”), including the most recent guidance issued by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (“FCAC”) aimed at misleading and deceptive sales practices.
Moneris champions all efforts that effectively curtail misleading and deceptive practices in the industry. Over the last several years, we have proactively advocated with the Payment Card Network Operators (“PCNOs”), the FCAC and other industry stakeholders to address unfair and unethical practices that appear to be limited to a small number of industry participants.
