Apple recently announced they will be partnering with American Express to bring Apple Pay to Canada for eligible customers. As the largest payment processor in Canada servicing more than 350,000 merchant locations, Moneris is payment ready today with 85 per cent of Moneris terminals currently in use today contactless-capable and able to accept the Apple Pay tap.

With iOS accounting for 38% of smartphones in Canada¹, retailers should prepare for consumers looking to pay in-store and within apps with iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch as soon as Apple Pay is live. According to the Moneris Q3 2015 quarterly spend report, contactless spending is rising significantly – by 162 per cent year over year – demonstrating growing appetite for this new payment option. Most of Moneris’ customers, including Indigo Books, have their contactless terminals ready to accept Apple Pay.
