What's new in the latest release
September 2024
- Menu item catalogue. The Item catalogue provides a convenient way of seeing all your menu items together on one screen including useful properties such as price, category, status, in-stock, tax profile, and modifier group. You can also sort, search, and filter menu items to find what you need. Refer to View and search all menu items.
- Bulk operation on menu items. In addition to viewing and searching menu items on the Item catalogue, you can modify multiple menu items in one operation in order to save time and effort.
- Change the order of menu items. Looking to change the order of menu items within a category? Do this and more using the consolidated topic for managing menu categories.
August 2024
- Modifying an existing takeout order. Once an order has been sent to the kitchen, it can no longer be changed. To modify an item that was ordered incorrectly, you must cancel the item by changing the quantity to zero and then place an order for the correct item. This ensures the kitchen avoids duplicate orders. Refer to Place a takeout order on the tablet.
- Additional method of disconnecting a Go terminal. Has your tablet been lost, stolen, or damaged? You can now disconnect the Moneris Go terminal using the Go Restaurant portal. For instructions, refer to Disconnect the Go terminal from your Go Restaurant tablet.
June/July 2024
- Combos. Taxes are calculated automatically for combos based on the tax profile assigned to the individual items in the combo.
- Reporting improvements. In Report settings, you can now set the opening time of your restaurant based on your time zone. This service time and the time zone of your restaurant will be reflected in all your reports.
- Tax reduction function. In each tax profile you create, you can specify whether taxes should be reduced when customers purchase a product under a specific dollar value or when they purchase a specific number of products. Automating this function will help you to charge the correct taxes for each sale.
- Go Restaurant app version. Not sure which version of the app is installed on your tablet? The version number now appears on the sign in screen.
- Adding peripherals. The peripherals window in the tablet app has been completely redesigned to make it easier to add your receipt printer, cash drawer, and Go terminal.
May 2024
- PDF format. Reports can now be downloaded in PDF format in addition to Excel.
- Improved error messaging for printing. Specific error messages with helpful troubleshooting suggestions will appear when the Go Restaurant app is unable to print to your kitchen printer or receipt printer.
- Tax profile reorganization. The procedure for setting up tax profiles has been reorganized into two parts to make it easier and more responsive to your taxation requirements. First set up your taxes, then create a profile using one or more of those taxes.
April 2024
- The floor plan is no longer available in the Go Restaurant portal. The product is currently focused on quick service restaurants such as cafes, food trucks, cafeterias, takeout counters and others that do not offer table service. The floor plan is not needed in these situations. Screens, webpages, and specific report information related to table service will no longer appear in the portal.
- Kiosk ordering and online ordering. Moneris has partnered with UEAT to provide kiosk and online ordering options to Go Restaurant merchants.
February 2024
- The Kitchen Display app (KDA) is no longer required for printing kitchen order tickets. When you place an order on the Go Restaurant tablet app, it will be sent directly to the appropriate kitchen printer without going through the KDA. If you have the KDA, the order will continue to appear there. Refer to Print kitchen order tickets automatically.
- Order screen improvements. The terminal and tablet order screens for takeout orders now features new buttons to print a bill, send an order to the kitchen, and collect payment.
December 2023
Several new reports are available in this release as well as an improved payment interface for the tablet app.
- End of day, end of shift, and snapshot reports. The end of shift function allows servers to end their shift and produce a report showing the sales and tips. The end of day function allows you to close out the business day and produce an end of day report providing a solid picture of your business for the day. The snapshot report can be run at anytime during the day to get a precise understanding of your sales from different perspectives.
- Payment interface for takeout. The new payment screen for the tablet app has been redesigned to make collecting payment smoother and more efficient for takeout orders.
October 2023
This release includes the following features:
- Receipt printer. The new receipt printer will print detailed receipts when customers pay for items at your quick service counter. Learn how to set up and connect the receipt printer.
- Cash drawer. A cash drawer is now available. It connects to the receipt printer and can be set to open automatically. Learn how to set up the cash drawer.
Version 2.0.12 (6 June 2023)
We've changed our name! The latest update includes a sneak peek into our new product name: Moneris Go POS Restaurant. While we work to roll this name out, you may still see references to “Moneris Go Appétit” across our applications. This update also includes minor bug fixes and performance improvements. You must update to the latest version to take advantage of these improvements.
- Refunds in-app. You can now initiate a refund directly from the transactions report on the terminal app saving time and effort. This new feature supports both full and partial refunds.
- Transactions report. The transactions report is now accessible from multiple locations within the terminal app and the tablet app. To access the report, you'll need to enter your PIN.
- Custom menu items. The option to order a custom item for takeout has been moved to the menu screen for convenience. When adding a custom item, you'll need to enter your PIN and provide a short reason for the custom item. Keeping track of custom items helps to determine whether to make them part of your menu.
- Close a table without collecting payment. You can close a table without payment in situations such as dine and dash or when the meal is complimentary. There are two different methods as explained in Close a table without collecting payment.

The following product updates are now available, along with corrections to various bugs. To take advantage of these improvements, Moneris recommends always updating your application to the latest version.
- Better organization of takeout orders. The screen for takeout orders has been streamlined into two tabs, one for ongoing orders and one for completed orders. We also added a search bar allowing you to search by order ID. Refer to Place an order for takeout.

Faster flows
- Sign in faster using the "Remember me" feature. Tap "Remember me" on the sign in screen to allow the Go Restaurant app and the KDS app to remember your user name. Next time you sign in, simply tap your name from the drop-down list. Refer to Sign in to the app.
- Seat walk-in guests faster. As soon as you select a table, the app will ask for the number of guests. No need to tap “Skip to seating”. Refer to Seat walk-in guests.
- Seat the next party faster. We streamlined the flow by removing the “This table has been checked out successfully” notification as well as the reminder to clean a table before seating the next guest. Refer to Check out dine-in guests.
Better reporting
- Reports in the Go Restaurant portal. Want to know which employee sells the most daily specials or side dishes? Now you can filter the Daily Sales, Item Sales, Alcohol Sales, and Modifier Sales reports by employee. Refer to Generate reports.
- Transactions report in-app. Need to review your payment transactions? We’ve added a Transactions report directly in the Go Restaurant app. You can search by date range to view a list of transactions within that range. You can tap each transaction to view details, including the table number, order number, server, what the customer ordered, as well as the purchase amount and method of payment. On the terminal app, you can reprint a bill.
New features
- Tax status. You can now specify the tax settings of a menu item, including marking it as tax-free. Refer to Add food and non-alcoholic drinks to a menu.
- Pizza menu item. We added pizza ordering to the menu with a comprehensive set of customizations. Customers can specify the size, crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings they want to order as well as half & half customization, all within your control. You choose which options to enable.
- Combo menu item. You can now add combos to a menu with the ability to specify a list of items for each selection. Want to offer a combo with 3 selections instead of 2 selections? Have an item that costs a dollar extra? The new combo menu feature is flexible and easy to use. You choose which options to offer your customers.
- Multi-quantity modifiers. You can now choose quantity-based modifiers for a menu item. For example, if a menu item allows 3 modifiers, the customer can choose 3 different modifiers or double (or triple) the quantity of one of the modifiers.
- Custom menu item. Customers asking for something that is not on your menu? Create items on the fly within the POS app to charge for customer requests not already pre-defined in your menu, for both dine-in and takeout customers.
- Using the tablet app for take out orders? You can now void takeout orders on the tablet app if the customer has changed their mind and hasn’t paid yet. Refer to Placing an order for takeout.
Other enhancements
- Kitchen ticket printout. We increased the font size of kitchen printouts to make them easier to read.
- Alcohol menu item. This is an existing feature but we’ve created a separate help topic to ensure that alcoholic drinks are added to your menus correctly. Refer to Add alcoholic beverages to a menu.
- Not sure if you’re using the latest app? Review this topic to update your Moneris Go Appétit applications to the latest version to take advantage of the most recent updates.

Take-out orders
- Having trouble telling one take-out order from another? Now you can rename a takeout order to any name that you prefer, for example, you can use the customer’s name. On the list of orders, tap the pencil icon and enter a new name.
- Need to cancel a take-out order before it is paid for? Void all items in the order in just one step. (Available on terminal app. This function will be added to the tablet app soon.)
- A customer has already paid and would like to print or re-print an itemized bill? No problem. Simply access the order and tap Reprint bill.
Dine-in orders
- Now you can identify customers better by renaming a seat. You can use the customer's name or the dish they ordered, or any name that helps you to remember them. These names will not appear on the receipt. They will appear only in the app.
- Only one customer sitting at a table? The app will skip questions about splitting the bill to help you checkout faster.
- We've made it easier to mark a menu item as out-of-stock or back in-stock by removing the need to enter a manager PIN.
