Configuring Enhanced Tip Prompting for Gift Cards

Enhanced tip prompting allows you to configure up to three pre-set tip percentages while maintaining the ability to permit cardholders to enter their own tip amount, either as a percentage or as a dollar amount.

From the READY screen prompt:

To navigate through the menus:

- Scroll down: press the key to move the highlight bar down.
- Scroll up: press the key to move the highlight bar up.
- Select a highlighted item: press the key.

Note: For the enhanced tip entry feature to work, Tip Entry must be set to YES.

1. Press the key.
The MAIN MENU appears.

2. Scroll down to ERNEX, and press the key.
The ERNEX menu appears.

3. Scroll up to SETUP, and press the key.
The SETUP menu appears.

4. Scroll up to TIP ENHANCED, and press the key.
The ENHANCED TIP PROCESSING? prompt appears.

5. At the ENHANCED TIP PROCESSING prompt:

To enable enhanced tip prompts, select YES.
The TIP ENHANCED menu appears. Continue at step 6.
To disable enhanced tip prompts, select NO. The terminal returns to the SETUP menu.

6. At the TIP ENHANCED menu, you may configure the options for enhanced tip entry. The first option is TIP CALCULATOR, which calculates and displays the dollar value for each pre-set tip percentage.

a. Press the key. The ENABLE TIP CALCULATOR? prompt appears.

b. To enable tip calculation, select YES. To disable tip calculation, select NO.

The terminal returns to the TIP ENHANCED menu.

7. You may now configure up to 3 pre-set tip percentages, if desired.

a. Scroll down to TIP PERCENT 1 and press the key.
The ENTER TIP PERCENT 1 prompt appears.

b. Enter a value between 0 and 30; for example 15%. Then press the key. The terminal returns to the TIP ENHANCED menu.

c. Scroll down to TIP PERCENT 2 and press the key.
The ENTER TIP PERCENT 2 prompt appears.

d. Enter a value between 0 and 30; for example 20%. Then press the key. The terminal returns to the TIP ENHANCED menu.

e. Scroll down to TIP PERCENT 3 and press the key.
The ENTER TIP PERCENT 3 prompt appears.

f. Enter a value between 0 and 30; for example 25%. Then press the key. The terminal returns to the TIP ENHANCED menu.

8. To return to the ERNEX (Gift & Loyalty) menu, press the key twice. To return to the READY screen, press it three times.

Tip Prompt Formats

Tip Prompt Format	What Happens During a Gift Card Purchase	Actual Tip Prompt/Screen
TIP BY PRE-SET PERCENT	The cardholder will be prompted to enter the tip as a pre-set percentage. (This assumes you have configured one, two, or all three of the pre-set tip percentage options above.) The first pre-set percentage is already highlighted. To accept it, the cardholder can simply press the key. To choose a different pre-set percentage, the cardholder presses the number on the keypad corresponding to their choice of tip. Or, they can scroll down to the desired choice and press the key. If the cardholder selects OTHER, they will see one of the prompts below. If the cardholder decides not to leave a tip, they can press the key to return to the ADD TIP? prompt.
TIP BY $ AND %	The cardholder will be prompted to enter the Tip as a percentage value or as a dollar amount. The cardholder must choose one of the two options, PERCENT or AMOUNT. The cardholder can not press the key to bypass entering a Tip at this prompt. However, they can press the key to return to the ADD TIP? prompt.
TIP BY AMOUNT	The cardholder will be prompted to enter the Tip as a dollar amount only. (The cardholder may press the key to bypass entering a Tip during this prompt.)
TIP BY PERCENT	The cardholder will be prompted to enter the Tip as a percentage value only. (The cardholder may press the key to bypass entering a Tip during this prompt.)
