Effective July 1, 2010, the governments of British Columbia and Ontario will harmonise their respective provincial taxes with the federal sales tax to create one harmonised sales tax. This change in government regulation requires Moneris Solutions to comply with the changes and apply the appropriate harmonised sales tax on the goods and services provided to merchants. If you are currently paying GST and PST or GST/PST only, you will likely be subject to the HST taxation. If your business is currently exempt from GST or PST, you may be exempt from the new HST. If you believe you may qualify for an HST exemption, please contact us with the appropriate exemption documentation. For more information on the HST, visit the CRA Website.
