At Moneris, we have undertaken a number of actions to safeguard and support our employees, merchants and partners throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Moneris is an essential service enabling payment transactions between customers and Canadian businesses, and we are supporting retail payment systems and payment terminals to keep them up and running. I want to assure you that Moneris will always be there for Canadian businesses, large and small.
We recognize that your business is your passion and livelihood, and we are taking every available measure to provide the services and support that you need.
Our digital and wireless commerce solutions are available to help Canadian businesses sell online or facilitate takeout or pickup where possible. Working closely with our card brand and issuing partners, we enabled an increase for contactless transactions of up to $250 for Amex, Mastercard and Visa to ensure frictionless and safer commerce for all Canadians.
More than 80% of our almost 1,800 Canadian employees are working from home – including our nationwide call centre team. You can rest assured that should you require support, we will be there answering phones and responding to emails, and that our Field Service Technicians are operating under Health Canada’s preventative measures for health and hygiene, and are making installations and repairs as needed. Importantly, all permanent full-time and part-time employees know they will not lose their job due to COVID-19 in 2020.
I am proud of the role Moneris is playing in this ongoing situation. Our business continuity plans are functioning well, we are adapting as the situation changes, and importantly, we are together working with the community to raise awareness, and through a donation of our unused TV advertising to Sunnybrook Hospital, are encouraging Canadians to fight this pandemic as one unified front.
