A Message From Our CEO

To all merchants and partners,

Moneris has been closely monitoring the developments around COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the potential impact on Canadians and Canadian businesses. Our top priority is our employees, merchants and partners, and we have undertaken several actions to ensure their health and safety as well as ensuring the continued availability of our products and services, including our core processing services.

We recognize that your business is your passion and livelihood, and we are taking every available measure to provide the services and support that you need. As of today, all our offices remain open, and we are conducting rotational work from home to ensure continuity and availability of the support and service teams that you rely upon. 

Should you require support, rest assured that we will be answering phones, responding to emails, and our highly trained technicians will be available to offer on-site support. Out of an abundance of caution, all partner, merchant and internal meetings are being held via videoconference. For onsite repairs and installations, all of our field services team have been supplied with gloves and wipes to disinfect devices before and after working on them. 

Moneris maintains robust business continuity preparedness, and all teams are required to update and test their plans annually. From the earliest reports of COVID-19, Moneris’ Enterprise Risk Management team began to proactively monitor developments and assess potential impacts for Canada. As the situation evolved, we brought together a specific COVID-19 task force to provide ongoing direction and responses for continuing to operate, including to recommend and implement best practice policies around travel, rotational working/work from home, meeting protocols and merchant services. Our business will continue to adapt as the situation changes.


There are some steps your teams can take to clean terminals using a lightly damp microfiber cloth only. Make sure to disconnect and turn off the terminals first, and do not use solvents, detergents, or abrasive cleaners. After cleaning, the devices may be disinfected using a suitable alcohol-based wipe or disinfectant applied to a microfiber cloth. 

Additionally, you may see an increase in fraud or other cyber attacks at this time. I encourage you to remain vigilant and to enforce best practices for reducing risks and vulnerabilities.
