Take advantage of increased speed and convenience with the Contactless payment solution. Customers can simply tap or wave their card in front of a contactless reader and a transaction is completed in seconds. With no signature verification, no PIN entry and optional cardholder receipt, you can benefit from faster transactions, shorter line-ups and satisfied customers.
Unlike the No Signature Programs, Contactless programs are available to any merchant with the appropriate hardware.

To take advantage of a contactless program, you will need a certified contactless reader and contactless capable point-of-sale (POS) terminal or software system. Only transactions processed through a certified contactless reader are covered by these programs.
The following Contactless Programs are available:
MasterCard PayPass
MasterCard PayPass purchases of up to $50 CDN (including applicable taxes) made through a contactless reader are protected against certain chargebacks.
MasterCard PayPass transactions over $50.00 CDN (including applicable taxes) should be processed using another point of sale payment method, such as swiping or inserting card. If the contactless reader is used, chargeback protection will no longer apply and you will be liable for the full transaction amount.
Visa payWave
The Visa payWave program applies to all transactions up to $50 CDN (including applicable taxes) processed through a contactless reader. As part of this program, chargeback protection is provided against certain chargebacks
A cardholder’s signature or PIN will continue to be required for credit card transactions above the amounts stated for the Visa payWave program.
