A remote transaction is any transaction processed where the credit card is not present at the time of sale. This includes orders taken via mail, telephone, email and e-commerce.

CAUTION - BE AWARE

  • You must have been approved by Moneris Solutions in order to process remote transactions.
  • You are financially responsible for all cardholder disputes and chargebacks for up to 240 days from the date of the transaction.
  • Obtaining an authorization number only means that the card had sufficient credit available at the time of the transaction. It does not mean that the cardholder authorized the transaction, nor will it prevent a chargeback.
  • Excessive fraud and/or chargebacks may result in the termination of your Merchant Account.

HINTS AND TIPS
  • Ensure that you are authorized by Moneris to process remote transactions
  • Recognize the chargeback potential associated with these transactions
  • Obtain the CVC2 (MasterCard) or the CVV (Visa) -3 digit number on the signature panel of the card
  • Telephone our Call Centre and request validation of the CVC2/CVV, and a name and address verification for the Cardholder. If either of these fail, do not process the transaction.

*NOTE - Although the above actions may reduce your risk of exposure, they will not guarantee that the sale is legitimate.
